Non-eu students residing abroad who would like to enroll in a study course completely taught in Italian, have to prove their knowledge of the language through an Italian language test.
The test will be organized by the CLA (University Language Centre), only after pre-enrollment on the Universitaly portal.

The following categories are excluded from this obligation:
1. students who intend to enroll in degree courses in English;
2. students in possession of an Italian language certification of level B2 or higher (such as CILS, CELI, Roma3 or PLIDA).

The course of study does not have a programmed number.
Students who intend to enroll in the Master’s Degree Course in Archaeology must hold a three-year or four-year degree from an Italian university or other degree awarded abroad and deemed equivalent to them.

Graduates of the three-year degree programs in Cultural Heritage (L-1), Humanities (L-10), History (L-42), Diagnostics for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage (L-43), the single-cycle Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (LMR-02) and the four-year degree programs in Humanities, Cultural Heritage, of the three-year University Diploma in Cultural Heritage Worker may enter the Master’s Degree Program in Archaeology if they have accrued 51 CFU distributed as follows:
- 24 CFU in the fields: Prehistory and ProtohistoryNumismatics; Etruscology and Italic Antiquities; Classical Archaeology; Christian and Medieval Archaeology; Ancient Topography; Archaeological Research Methodology; Aegean Civilizations; Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East; Phoenician-Punic Archaeology;
- 27 CFU in the areas of Greek History; Roman History; Medieval Art History; Greek Language and Literature; Latin Language and Literature; Medieval and Humanistic Latin Literature; Medieval History.

Graduates from other courses of study can enter the Master’s Degree Program in Archaeology if they have accrued 69 CFU distributed as follows:
- 24 CFU in the fields: Prehistory and Protohistory; Numismatics; Etruscology and Italic Antiquities; Classical Archaeology; Christian and Medieval Archaeology; Ancient Topography; Archaeological Research Methodology; Aegean Civilizations; Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East; Phoenician-Punic Archaeology.
- 27 CFU in the areas: Medieval Art History; Greek Language and Literature; Latin Language and Literature; Medieval and Humanistic Latin Literature; Greek History; Roman History; Medieval History.
- 18 CFU in the areas of Chemistry of the Environment and Cultural Heritage; Drawing; History of Architecture; Restoration; Computer Science; Institutions of Public Law; Administrative Law; European Union Law; Museology, History of Art Criticism and Restoration; Italian Literature; Mineral Georisources and Mineralogical-Petrographic Applications for the Environment and Cultural Heritage; Geography; Economics and Business Management.

The indicated requirements must be met prior to matriculation in the Course of Study and cannot in any way be acquired thereafter. Any missing CFUs may be acquired through individual courses prior to matriculation to the Course of Study.
Subsequently, after ascertaining the possession of the above curricular requirements and prior to matriculation, the CdS proceeds to the verification of the adequacy of personal preparation, which is considered passed ex officio if the candidate’s bachelor’s degree grade is 90/110 or higher. If the bachelor’s degree grade is less than 90/110, enrollment is subject to passing an interview that will test knowledge and skills in archaeology.
The Coordinator, the Inter-College Council and the Inter-College Committee, possibly after consulting the Review Group, proceed to the evaluation of the qualifications of any particular pathways, also in relation to the applications of foreign, EU and non-EU students.
The Course Council evaluates the entry requirements and personal preparation, including through interviews, of all those who intend to enroll in the Master’s Degree in Archaeology, regardless of their Course of Study of origin. In addition, the Course Council assesses the degree of knowledge of the Italian language in the case of foreign students.
Knowledge of at least one EU foreign language is considered a prerequisite for access to the Master’s Degree Course.
Verification of the aforementioned access requirements must be carried out prior to enrollment. In special cases, the Interclass Council and the Interateneo Committee, having consulted, if necessary, the Review Group, evaluate the adequate personal preparation, including through interviews.
