Panoramica

The specific training objectives of the Master’s Degree in Maritime-Port Strategic Sciences, consistent with the qualifying objectives of the LM/DS (Defence and Security Sciences) degree class, are achieved through training activities that, modern way the concepts of defense and security with the connotations of the operational areas of reference, allow the training of civilian professionals in maritime-ports, by providing appropriate knowledge and skills to understand and manage the complex issues of maritime-port enterprises and those connected with them.

The training project is characterized by a high interdisciplinary nature of all training activities – belonging to the economic-management, legal and management engineering sciences – consisting of teaching, internship and traineeship activities and the final test (of which some parts must be carried out within an internship or traineeship activity, with the attribution of the respective CFU, in order to provide the graduates, in addition to the ability to acquire and elaborate theoretical knowledge in an original way, the ability to apply them and to effectively solve the problems of the sectors of maritime- port activities, including those connected with them, such as logistics and transport activities).

The study plan designed integrates in the training project disciplines belonging to the legal, economic-management and managerial engineering area. It corresponds to the specialized training needs of the professional realities concerned.

Sbocchi professionali

The master’s degree is aimed at training specific professional figures for the maritime cluster – increasingly requested by terminaliste companies, maritime, ship owners, ports, transport, logistics, nautical tourism, import-export and the business system, economic and productive linked to the sea – able to cover on land functions of command, planning, administrative coordination, logistics, technical-operational, organization and management.

the graduates in strategic marine-harbour Sciences will find occupation in the marine-harbour enterprises and those to them ancillary, from the terminaliste and shipowning enterprises to those of the induced also indirect of the cluster, the shipping and the nautical tourism, more generally, in the enterprises of the economic and productive system linked to the sea, including those of transport, logistics, import/export, auxiliary services and agency, the shipbuilding industry and shipbuilding, research in the maritime field, as well as in institutional bodies carrying out defence, administration, coordination and security activities in the compartment.

The CdS is intended to train professionals whose skills can be used in all port systems: the reference labour market, due to the characteristics of the training received, is not only local but also regional, national, of the entire Mediterranean and international since in all the ports of the world there is need of professional figures specialized, in particular, in the management of the logistic chain, in the marine transports, in the shipowning companies, in the management and ship-interfaceport, in the operations of safety and security and protection of the marine environment, in the maritime-port sustainable activities.

It should be noted that, to the more traditional type of employment opportunities of maritime-port enterprises, they are flanked by new ones, strongly characterized in terms of interdisciplinarity and interface between the different professional figures working in the areas of competence of the course.
