Resumen
The Degree Course in Prevention Techniques in the Environment and Workplaces began its activity in the academic year 2002-2003. Over the years, the degree course has undergone changes in its educational structure. It is divided into three years of courses. The achievement of professional skills is achieved through a complete and exhaustive training path that includes a theoretical and a practical part for a total of 180 CFU. The theoretical part includes, in compliance with ministerial provisions, 22 CFU in basic disciplines, 30 CFU for disciplines related to the specific professional profile of the health assistant, 14 CFU tied to specific disciplinary areas and 30 CFU independently chosen by the location. The practical part includes the acquisition of practical and behavioral skills for immediate use in the work environment. In this context, the clinical internship activity is of particular importance, carried out with at least 60 CFU under the supervision and guidance of specifically assigned professional tutors and coordinated by a teacher of the specific disciplinary sector (MED/50).
This internship will be carried out at SSN facilities linked by a ‘conventional’ relationship with the Degree Course through the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

Graduates of the class, according to the aforementioned training courses, must achieve the skills required by the specific professional profiles. In particular, in the field of the profession of Prevention Technician in the Environment and Workplaces. Graduates are health workers who are responsible for the duties provided for by the Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Health of 17 January 1997, no. 69 and subsequent amendments and additions, or are responsible for prevention and promotion and education for health
Within the scope of their skills, the graduate in Prevention Techniques in the Environment and Workplaces:
- organizes, plans and carries out surveillance and inspection activities in the environment and workplaces;
- carries out checks and investigations for accidents and occupational diseases;
- supervises and controls the compliance of structures and environments in relation to the activities connected to them;
- supervises and controls the safety of systems;
- collaborates with the judicial administration in the context of investigations into crimes against environmental heritage, on hygiene and safety conditions in living and working environments and on food;
- supervises and controls the quality of food and beverages intended for food from production to consumption and assesses the need to proceed with subsequent specialist investigations;
- carries out surveillance and control activities on hygiene and veterinary health;
- supervises and controls cosmetic products;
- supervises and controls anything else provided for by laws and regulations on health and environmental prevention.
The graduate in Prevention Techniques in the Environment and Workplace participates in study, teaching and professional consultancy activities in health services and in places where his professional competence is required; contributes to the training of staff and collaborates directly in updating his profile and research.
The professional activity of the graduate in Prevention Techniques in the Environment and Workplaces is carried out as an employee or freelancer, within the national health service at all prevention, control and surveillance services provided for by the legislation.
