Non-eu students residing abroad who would like to enroll in a study course completely taught in Italian, have to prove their knowledge of the language through an Italian language test.
The test will be organized by the CLA (University Language Centre), only after pre-enrollment on the Universitaly portal.

The following categories are excluded from this obligation:
1. students who intend to enroll in degree courses in English;
2. students in possession of an Italian language certification of level B2 or higher (such as CILS, CELI, Roma3 or PLIDA).

The course of study does not have a programmed number of students.
Students wishing to enrol on the Master of Arts degree course in History of Art must be in possession of a three-year or four-year degree from an Italian university or another qualification obtained abroad and considered equivalent to them.

Graduates of the three-year degree courses in Cultural Heritage (L1), Audiovisual, Music, Performing Arts and Fashion (L-3), Humanities (L10), History (L-42), Diagnostics for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage (L-43), the single-cycle degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (LMR-02) and the four-year degree courses in Arts and Philosophy, Cultural Heritage, the three-year university diploma in Operatore dei beni culturali (Cultural Heritage Worker) may access the Master’s degree course in History of Art if they have accrued 57 CFU as follows
- 24 CFU in the following sectors: History of Medieval Art; History of Modern Art; History of Contemporary Art; Museology and Art Criticism and Restoration;
- 33 CFU in the fields of: Design; History of Architecture; Restoration; Classical Archaeology; Christian and Medieval Archaeology; Methodology of Archaeological Research; Disciplines of the Performing Arts; Cinema, Photography and Television; Musicology and History of Music; Latin Language and Literature; Medieval and Humanistic Latin Literature; Italian Literature; Medieval History; Modern History; Contemporary History; History of Christianity and the Churches.

Graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts must have acquired at least 60 CFU in the subject areas of History of Art, Museology and Art Criticism and Restoration, History of Architecture, Restoration, Aesthetics, Cultural Heritage, Anthropology.

Graduates coming from other Study Courses may access the Master’s Degree Course in Art History if they have accrued 69 CFU distributed as follows
- 24 CFU in the following sectors: History of Medieval Art; History of Modern Art; History of Contemporary Art; Museology and Art Criticism and Restoration;
- 27 CFU in the following fields: Classical Archaeology; Christian and Medieval Archaeology; Archaeological Research Methodology; Italian Literature; Latin Language and Literature; Geography; Medieval History; Modern History; Contemporary History;
- 18 CFU in the following fields: Design; History of Architecture; Restoration; Demo-ethno-anthropological disciplines; History of Science and Techniques; Performing Arts; Cinema, Photography and Television; Musicology and History of Music; Glottology and Linguistics; History of Christianity and Churches.

The requirements indicated must be possessed prior to enrolment in the course of study and cannot in any way be acquired subsequently. Any missing CFUs may be acquired through individual courses, prior to enrolment in the Study Course.
Subsequently, after ascertaining the possession of the aforementioned curricular requirements and prior to enrolment, the BoD proceeds to verify the adequacy of the candidate’s personal preparation, which is considered automatically passed if the candidate’s degree grade is equal to or higher than 90/110. If the degree mark is lower than 90/110, enrolment is subject to passing an interview that will test knowledge and skills in the field of history and art.
The Coordinator and the Interclass Council, possibly after consulting the Review Group, proceed with the evaluation of the qualifications of any special courses, also in relation to requests from foreign, EU and non-EU students.
The Course Council evaluates the admission requirements and personal preparation, also through interviews, of all those who intend to enrol in the Master of Science in Art History, regardless of their Course of Study. Furthermore, the Board assesses the degree of knowledge of the Italian language in the case of foreign students.
Knowledge of at least one EU foreign language is considered a prerequisite for admission to the Master’s Degree Course.
The above-mentioned access requirements must be verified prior to enrolment. In particular cases, the Interclass Council, possibly after consulting the Review Group, assesses the adequate personal preparation, also through interviews.
