Overview
The Master’s Degree in Marine Biology aims to provide in-depth
knowledge of biological and ecological processes related to the marine
environment. The program also addresses topics such as the protection of
the marine environment and its resources, and the management of issues
caused by human activities — from aquaculture to fishing, from invasive
species to climate change.
Through high-quality education, complemented by field and laboratory
activities, the program equips students with the theoretical and practical
skills necessary to enable graduates to work with deep awareness and a high
degree of autonomy in facing the challenges posed by global change.

Career opportunities
The Master’s Degree in Marine Biology* is designed to train specialists in
the field of Biology as applied to Marine Sciences. A Marine Biologist has
career opportunities involving roles of responsibility, consultancy, and
planning within universities and other public and private educational and
research institutions that deal with coastal monitoring, marine water
quality, and the management of biological resources, marine parks, and
protected marine areas.
Graduates in Marine Biology may also work in aquariums and marine museums,
in the monitoring of marine biodiversity and ecosystem conditions,
including activities related to the restoration and conservation of
habitats and vulnerable species. They may also be involved in the
production of marine organisms in aquaculture and mariculture facilities.
