Overview
The degree course in History offers a broad range of studies in historical, social and humanistic disciplines, aimed at teaching the historical-critical method. Students are given the opportunity to study history in depth, from ancient times to the present day, and to learn about its various fields and methodologies.
The programme makes use of philological, epistemological and methodological tools, focusing on the rigorous use of sources, and aims to guide students towards diachronic analysis. The programme also provides basic elements for historical communication and dissemination, and an initial approach to digital methodologies.
The historical disciplines are complemented by a range of philosophical, literary, geographical, economic, political, legal and sociological disciplines.
The natural outlet for graduates in History is enrolment in the Master’s Degree in Historical and Social Sciences (LM-84) and the Interclass Degree in Digital Heritage. Museums, Archives, Libraries (LM-5/LM-43). At the same time, the course of study allows access to other master’s degrees in related disciplines, such as Anthropology, Demography, Philosophy, Literature, Communication Sciences, Political Sciences, and Sociology.
The course trains professionals with skills useful for public bodies and third sector entities (cultural foundations, tourism and local operators) active in the fields of culture and cultural heritage enhancement.
