Overview
The degree course in Agricultural Science and Technology (STA) aims to provide the knowledge and skills required by junior agronomists such as agricultural and production technicians, also using innovative and sustainable methodologies to ensure the safety, quality and hygiene of food and non-food products and foodstuffs, limiting waste, resources and the environmental impact. According to the specific sphere, these skills may be directed towards organization and management or single production sectors. STA course consists of two pathways: the first is orientated towards a global overview of the activities and issues related to farm management; the second regards the production and protection of plants. Graduates will be able to work as entrepreneurs and/or managers of private farms; to provide technical assistance to companies operating in the production, preservation and marketing supply chains of plant- and animal-based products and to advise companies operating in conjunction with the above supply chains.

Career opportunities
The STA graduate will be able to carry out professional activities both as a freelancer and as an entrepreneur and/or administrator of small private farms, also as an operator able to provide technical assistance to companies operating in the crops and animal production and marketing chains, and as an expert in economic-estimative models.
The freelancer activity can be started after the qualification as a Junior Agronomist in the Italian Register of Agronomists and Foresters, section B.
In detail, the STA graduate will be able to carry out consultancy in the following sectors: i) vegetable crops and animal production, ii) management of the various rural systems; iii)
safety, quality and wholesomeness of agricultural products; iv) innovative and sustainable agronomic and crop protection techniques.
The STA graduate will also be able to collaborate in planning elements of agricultural, agri-food, livestock and environmental systems and activities for agro-biodiversity enhancement.
