Overview
The Degree Course in Biological Sciences (L13) is programmed to allow the student to acquire, gradually and in successive stages, the theoretical-operational tools for understanding biological phenomena. During the first year, most of the credits will be assigned to the scientific-disciplinary sectors of mathematics, statistics, chemistry and physics, the knowledge of which is preparatory to the acquisition of properly biological skills. The latter will include the study of microorganisms and plant and animal organisms, including humans, with interdisciplinary morphological, physiological, biochemical, biomolecular, genetic, evolutionary, ecological-environmental approaches. The course aims to ensure new graduates have a solid basic framework aimed at continuing their studies. It will also provide the preparation and tools necessary to allow students to assimilate scientific and technological progress and to address and explore issues relating to the Life Sciences.

Career opportunities
The bachelor degree graduate will be able to access the master’s degrees of the LM-6 class “Biology” and other similar master’s degree classes of national Universities.
The graduate will also have the opportunity to directly access the work’s world and the profession of junior Biologist, following registration in the professional Register (section B) after passing the requested exam.
The employment opportunities and the related training objectives were harmonized at a national level in the frame of the College of Biology of Italian Universities (CBUI) with the contribution of the National Federation of the Orders of Biologists (FNOB), and of representatives of unions and organizations of the national productive world. The indications that emerged are transferred to the local reality thanks to contacts with the Order of Biologists of Puglia and Basilicata, whose representatives participate in orientation days and in the work of the Steering Committee of the Biology Interclass Council.
