Overview
The degree course in Health Care falls within the Class of Health Professions of Prevention and offers a maximum number of enrolments of 40. It has a single location located at the Policlinico di Bari and is divided into semesters. The degree course in Health Care prepares health professionals with the scientific and technical knowledge necessary to carry out prevention, promotion and health education activities in full professional autonomy. The activity is aimed at the person in his or her developmental cycle, the family and the community and takes the form of identifying health needs and priorities for preventive, educational and recovery intervention. The training course includes both theoretical frontal teaching activities and practical internship activities. Of particular importance, in training, is the practical training and internship activity, carried out under the supervision and guidance of professional tutors, belonging to the company that hosts the degree course and to those affiliated with it, with the coordination of a teacher belonging to the highest level of training of the professional profile.

Career opportunities
Graduates are health professionals who are responsible for the responsibilities provided for by the Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Health 17 January 1997, no. 69 and subsequent amendments and additions, or are responsible for prevention, promotion and education for health. The activity of graduates in health care is aimed at the person, the family and the community. In detail, it deals with: – designing, planning, implementing and evaluating health education interventions at all stages of the person’s life; – collaborate in the definition of communication methodologies, programs and campaigns for health promotion and education; – contribute to the training and updating of school health workers with regard to the methodology of health education; – intervene in family planning and health, sexual and socio-affective education programs;
– implement specific family support interventions, activate network resources also in collaboration with general practitioners and other operators in the area and participate in family therapy programs;
– supervise the hygienic-sanitary conditions in families, schools and assisted communities and control the hygiene of the environment and the risk of infection;
– report and report operational solutions to the competent authorities;
– collaborate in health promotion and education interventions in schools;
– contribute to initiatives aimed at protecting citizens’ rights with particular reference to health promotion;
– carry out their functions with professional autonomy also through the use of specific techniques and tools;
– carry out teaching-training and consultancy activities in the services, where his/her professional competence is required.
