Overview

The main objective of the curriculum is to provide students with the knowledge, scientific basis and clinical/practical skills they will need to successfully manage professional challenges in all branches of veterinary practice: health and welfare of pets and livestock; infectious and parasitic animal diseases; veterinary public health; animal food safety and quality; animal production managing genetic selection, nutrition and reproduction.
Enrolments are restricted on the basis of annual national quotas and there is compulsory attendance for students.
Classes are split into two-month terms, each followed by a separate period for student examinations. Practical and theoretical classes are scheduled for students and published at the beginning of each term.
Veterinary medicine of the University of Bari was accredited by EAEVE (European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education) in 2023, demonstrating the high standard quality of the didactics offer.

Career opportunities

Graduates will have gained professional skills to work in clinical practice, National Sanitary Service, private industry, National and International institutions and Research bodies.
From the academic year 2023-24, at the University of Bari, the degree in veterinary medicine qualifies to the profession of veterinary surgeon.
