Entry qualification

High school diploma issued after at least 12 years of documented studies. If the country where the qualification has been obtained requires a test for the academic suitability, you must also present the successful examination (E.g. YKS in Turkey, Selectividad in Spain, Prova de Aferiçao o Prova Geral de Acesso ao Ensino Superior in Portugal, etc.). If the qualification was obtained at the end of a school period of less than 12 years, we invite you to consult Ministerial Provisions for the access of international students with the relevant Attachment 1. Open access course. The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Italian. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.

Language requirements

Italian Non-eu students residing abroad who would like to enroll in a study course completely taught in Italian, have to prove their knowledge of the language through an Italian language test. The test will be organized by the CLA (University Language Centre), only after pre-registration on the Universitaly portal. To find out how to register consult the website at this page The following categories are excluded from this obligation: 1. students who intend to enroll in degree courses in English; 2. students in possession of an Italian language certification of level B2 or higher (such as CILS, CELI, Roma3 or PLIDA).

Other requirements

The Bachelor Degree in Computer Science is open to all students. In order to be admitted, it is necessary to have a high school diploma or other qualification obtained abroad which is recognised as suitable, according to the current regulations. To attend the Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, it is fundamental to have a good preparation in basic school subjects, in particular mathematics and logics. At the beginning of the academic year, students must submit to a knowledge assessment required by the Ministerial Decree, consisting in a test. Pre-courses (or alignment courses) are organized in order to prepare students for passing the test. The failure of the proof assignes to the student an “additional educational obligations”, called OFA, that however, does not preclude enrolment in the first year. The OFA can be discharged by passing a first-year examination in one of the scientific-disciplinary sectors MAT/*, INF/01 or ING-INF/05, or by repeating the examination text procedure during the academic year. Overview

The Bachelor Degree in Computer Science aims at training experts able to build solutions, by using the available computer technology, to solve social problems. The subject contents provided in the Computer Science degree course range from the theoretical foundations of programming languages and algorithmics, computability and complexity, to methods for intelligent retrieval of information, engineering of knowledge-based systems and, finally, techniques for the development of effective interfaces and systems in advanced application areas, such as automatic document processing, game development, etc. Technical knowledge focuses on topical issues required by the job market: Algorithms and Data Structures, Databases, Software Engineering, Computer Networks and Programming Languages.

Career opportunities

Graduates in Computer Science are professionals with a specific technical background and high computer science skills.
They may:
- design, produce and distribute IT products and services;
- develop intelligent and networked systems for various applications such as networked business operational support, office automation, web systems, e-commerce, e-government, e-health;
- offer corporate and institutional training;
- offer specialised consulting to enterprises and public bodies.
Examples of professionals from the Federcomin’s Annual Report are: database administrator, network consultant and designer, web developer, expert in customisation and pre-sales of IT solutions, network/web administrator, software analyst, designer and developer, support and technical assistance consultant.
They may enroll in the Register of Engineers (Information Sector – section B) by passing a State examination as established by the Article 48 of Presidential Decree No. 328 of the 5th of June 2001.
