Overview
The aim of the Master’s Degree in Mathematics is to train graduates who:
• have a solid and broad cultural background in the area of Mathematics;
• acquire the methods specific to mathematical research;
• have an in-depth knowledge of the scientific method;
• have advanced computational and computer skills;
• have specialized mathematical knowledge in specific sectors, also in the context of other Sciences, Economics, Finance, Engineering and other applied fields;
• acquire the habit of analyzing and solving complex problems, also in applied contexts;
• have specific skills for communicating the problems and methods of Mathematics;
• are able to use fluently, in written and oral form, the English language in addition to Italian, also with reference to disciplinary lexicons;
• have relational and decision-making skills, and are able to work with great autonomy, also taking on scientific and organizational responsibilities

Career opportunities
Graduates in Mathematics Master are characterized as professional figures with deep mathematical skills, abstraction capacity, a habit of rigorous reasoning and have a flexible and adaptable profile. They are therefore able to perform highly responsible roles in the development and simulation of mathematical models of various kinds, in various scientific, environmental, health, industrial, financial, service and public administration application fields, in teaching and training in Mathematics, in the communication and dissemination of Mathematics and scientific thought in various sectors. Their knowledge of the mathematical bases of the applications enables them to make a specific contribution within work groups characterized by the co-presence of various professional figures. The in-depth preparation of graduates in Mathematics Master is also the basis for subsequent studies in the professional field, and for research in Mathematics and emerging sciences, such as, for example, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Cryptography, Neuroscience, etc. and for access to Research Doctorates. Graduates and Master’s degree holders can access the selection and recruitment forms of teaching staff in public schools. The Master’s Degree in Mathematics encourages the experience of internships/stages at public institutions or private companies or at schools, to facilitate the entry of its graduates into the world of work (see the Elective Credits section).
